Library Haul: July 4, 2018

Yesterday I went to another Toronto Library branch, the Bloor/Gladstone Library. I’ve never been there, and I really liked, because it looks beautiful and they have a lot of comic books and manga. Back in Brazil I never though someday I would be borrowing manga and comics from a library.

The manga is Delicious in Dungeon, published by Yen Press. I’ve been interested in it for some time, and now it’s finally time to check if it’s good.

When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons…none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!

Next I have volumes 3 and 4 of Sex Criminals. I have read the first couple volumes a while ago, and I can guarantee that IT IS SO MUCH FUN! The idea is really strange and sounds absurd, but hey, give it a try. Besides being really funny, it also has a lot of depth about sexuality and relationships.

Suzie’s just a regular gal with an irregular gift: when she has sex, she stops time. One day she meets Jon and it turns out he has the same ability. And sooner or later they get around to using their gifts to do what we’d ALL do: rob a couple banks.

I also borrowed the first two volumes of Bee And Puppycat for my wife, as she wanted to read it for a long time, and she is reading comics to practice her English skills and increase her vocabulary.

A quirky new take on the magical girl genre with Bee, the forever unemployed main character who can’t seem to figure out life, and the mysterious PuppyCat, a stray…whatever it is…that she stumbled across who has a powerful secret.

Watching Now

Last week I got addicted to Kim’s Convenience, a show about a Korean family that runs a convenience store in Toronto.

I’ve watched the first episode a few months ago during my flight to Toronto, and although I’ve liked it at that point, it didn’t catch me. But this week I watched a few more episodes with my wife, and I’m totally hooked. Sadly, we already watched everything and have to wait for season 3 😕

I also started watching Yuru Camp, an anime about… Camping. I’ve watched the first 3 episodes and so far I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s so cozy and heartwarming! As for cartoons, I’m enjoying the new Ducktales, and did catch up with Steven Universe (OMFG WHAT WAS THAT EPISODE!!!)

Yesterday I also started watching the last season of The Americans, one of the best TV shows I’ve watched these last few years. If you didn’t watch it yet, please do it! After I finish i, I plan on watching Glow’s 2nd season, quick premiered on Netflix last Friday. And with my wife, I’m starting Ozark. I’ve been curious about it since the first trailer, but never watched it.

And you, what are you watching right now? Leave a comment!

Toronto Pride Parade 2018

Last Sunday was the Pride Parade 2018 in Toronto, and I went there with my wife. She actually participated in the IKEA group with a friend who works there, while I watched the parade. It was wonderful, and I’m very glad that the weather cleared up at the time it started.

I admit: A little tear went out here

The Library was also present!

After the parade, we me with a friend from college and a couple of her friends and had a coffee. (My wife had an Iced White Maccha Latte)

First Day Of College

Sorry for not updating a lot here recently, but I was quite busy as my classes were about to start. And of course, I guess I may end up busier now that classes started.

I’m starting a Graduate Certificate (Market Research & Analytics) at Centennial College here in Toronto, and it’s 2 semesters long, so at the end of the year I’ll be graduating, hopefully.

Going to and coming back from college, I watched an episode of The Ministry of Time, a fun Spanish time travel show available on Netflix.

On Mondays I have only one class, and the teacher seems very good. How tomorrow’s classes are great too.

One thing that surprised me: the coffee shops there were closed before 3pm. WHAT??? I didn’t try going to the restaurant/cafeteria, but c’mon.

Relaxing drinking a Copperhead and watching anime

Well, that’s it for today!

Bought a new Kindle

I’ve had a Kindle DX since 2010, one of the first things I bought when I started working. It was one of the best things I bought, but when I moved to Toronto I decided to leave it behind, to my mother, and then eventually buy a new one here.

Then this week it was on sale and with free 1 day shipping, so of course I bought it xD
