Yesterday I went to another Toronto Library branch, the Bloor/Gladstone Library. I’ve never been there, and I really liked, because it looks beautiful and they have a lot of comic books and manga. Back in Brazil I never though someday I would be borrowing manga and comics from a library.
The manga is Delicious in Dungeon, published by Yen Press. I’ve been interested in it for some time, and now it’s finally time to check if it’s good.
When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons…none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!
Next I have volumes 3 and 4 of Sex Criminals. I have read the first couple volumes a while ago, and I can guarantee that IT IS SO MUCH FUN! The idea is really strange and sounds absurd, but hey, give it a try. Besides being really funny, it also has a lot of depth about sexuality and relationships.
Suzie’s just a regular gal with an irregular gift: when she has sex, she stops time. One day she meets Jon and it turns out he has the same ability. And sooner or later they get around to using their gifts to do what we’d ALL do: rob a couple banks.
I also borrowed the first two volumes of Bee And Puppycat for my wife, as she wanted to read it for a long time, and she is reading comics to practice her English skills and increase her vocabulary.
A quirky new take on the magical girl genre with Bee, the forever unemployed main character who can’t seem to figure out life, and the mysterious PuppyCat, a stray…whatever it is…that she stumbled across who has a powerful secret.
